Not only console gamer’s, the guys here at Daily Reviews have for years been under-cover PC gamer’s, keeping alive the very gaming experience that started it all: PC gaming. Bring on the days of enemy territory, and RTCW, gaming the way it should be done, precise, accurate and fast, forget your controller, a keyboard and mouse is where it’s at. Up for review today is a gaming keyboard from the big players in the world of all things electronic market: Logitech. Introducing the Logitech G910 Orion Spark RGB mechanical gaming keyboard.
UP TO 25% FASTER
The all-new Logitech Romer-G™ mechanical switch actuates at a distance of 1.5mm. That’s up to 25% shorter and faster than the leading competitor. Low-force, 45g actuation results in near-instant responsiveness and helps minimize fatigue over long gaming sessions.
SMOOTH, CONFIDENT, ACCURATE KEYSTROKES
Performance Facet Keycaps and soft click switch design improve tactile feedback and responsiveness. Patent-pending asymmetric keycap design keeps your fingers centered and improves edge-strike activation for more direct and reliable keystrokes.
TOTAL LIGHTING YOU CAN DEPEND ON
Centered, surface-mount LED backlight design minimizes light leakage and focuses light evenly through the top of the keys for a cleaner, more appealing look. Surface mounted LEDs improve connection strength and reliability over standard keyswitch-mounted mechanical keyboard backlighting. Keyboards with RGB-backlighting feature an exclusive swiss-designed lens that combines and focuses RGB lighting.
LONG LASTING RELIABILITY
Tested for 70-million keystrokes, Romer-G mechanical switches are up to 40% more durable than the top competitor. Dual-contact redundancy helps ensure key activation at the same point, every time.
The G910 Up Close:
The Logitech G910 Orion Spark keyboard out of the box is a serious piece of gaming hardware with an all black attire. The G910 aside from looking the part is a hefty bit of kit coming in with an overall weight of 1.5KGs. Targeted towards serious gamer’s, the G910 has a plethora of features that would satisfy even the most demanding gaming guys (and gals). The G910 packs a whole lot of keys on to the board, giving it’s gaming buddy plenty to customise. With a load of programmable buttons, media controls, and m-keys, it’s obvious the objective is to offer a complete gaming accessory. Packed with a total of 9 programmable G-keys and 3 programmable M-Keys, you are provided with 27 unique functions per game. Certain keystrokes, multi keys, text blocks, media and hotkey commands, shortcuts, functions, ventrilo and voice avatars can all be assigned to the G-keys using the Logitech G910 software.
Speaking of the keys, the first feature to stick out massively are the asymmetric key caps, a simple design that keeps the user’s fingers centered meaning more accurate, direct and reliable keystrokes. Sitting underneath each key cap is the Roma-G mechanical switch. The all-new Logitech Romer-G™ mechanical switches are up to 25% shorter and faster than other competitor keyboards which means response time is enhanced massively to almost that of being instant and finger ache will be a thing of the past
Not only does the G910 offer good looks, it also boasts reliability, with the Romer-G switches being 40% more durable than it’s competitor. Each key cap is laser etched to offer the best possible light illumination, so night time gaming sessions are greatly improved due to the incredibly clear light visibility and visual lighting intensity.
The G910 does come with a palm rest of sorts, A skeletal arm rest which is permanently attached to the board allows for detachable rests to be clipped on to. Included in the package are two arm rests, a smaller one which is virtually the same size as the palm rest frame and a slightly wider palm rest cover. A nice little added touch is the G910 windowed logo that sits embedded within the palm rest section.
The media controls along with the Game/Window key sit on the top right hand side of the board while underneath this is your Volume Up/Down slider wheel. Sitting along the top edge of the G910 board is the G910’s biggest feature the ARX slide out dock. Allowing gamer’s to turn their smartphone or tablet in to a second screen that displays vital system and in-game information. The ARX dock is nothing more than a plastic stand as the G910 itself doesn’t allow your smartphone, iOS or tablet to connect to it, rather the in-game and system info is displayed through and via the ARX app.
When installed on your phone/tablet the ARX app connects to your system through your WiFi connection and thus is able to display your in-game and systems vital statistics such as CPU, GPU and RAM usage. Taken from the App store:
Bring PC Game and Vital system stats to your mobile device

Logitech Gaming Software:
The Logitech Gaming Software provides you with plenty of options to extend your new gaming accessory, making it highly game unique/specific. The lighting sequences and patterns are the main features to stick out, giving you plenty of options from the back-light colour right through to the colour schemes and effect. You can choose from a pre-setup zone key option through to a freestyle key selection process. The zones lighting mode allows you to assign a different color to sectioned blocks of the keyboard such as WASD, the arrow keys, G-keys, F-keys and numbers. Other options include a key heat map that will display your most frequently pressed keys on a heat map alongside the amount of key presses per minute.
The G-Key window gives you the option to scan for games along with supported profiles, each game profile comes with a list of suggested commands, providing you with the ability to drag and drop the selected command to whichever G-key you like. Furthermore, you are able to save multiple profiles for each game, allowing you to switch between each during game play.
The Logitech G910 is a keyboard with a difference, breaking away from your conventional and ordinary board types, throwing in to the mix something for the serious gamer in us all. With the software and ARX app aside, the G910 isn’t any old keyboard, and those used to gaming on such a board will need to take some time out to adjust and get used to the bustling array of buttons and their eventual and overall placement. The close proximity of the G-Keys to the rest of the buttons is somewhat closer than one would like and at times i did find myself accidentally clicking them during game play – this very much due to an increase in board size and the fact that there are far less keys to ‘watch out’ for on an ordinary board. However when you add in the convenience of multiple game profiles, you do kind of understand why Logitech decided to place them where they did – offering a convenient and easy to reach placement for them – wrongly or rightly, they are within reach.
From a typing POV, the G910 does what it says on the tin and does indeed offer correct finger placement. The Asymmetrical buttons with their sloping edges force your fingers to sit/fall in the center of each key which results in accurate typing performance. Much like the gaming though, this does take some practice, however the end result is it does train your fingers to sit center and when switching to a conventional keyboard the typing accuracy is improved vastly.
The Logitech G910 is a keyboard made with a specific target audience in mind, and that would be the pro gamer who believes money is no object. With a premium price tag the G910 is a serious piece of hardware that demands serious consideration. Boasting quality parts alongside a whole host of gaming features, the G910 is built for enthusiasts who want more than your basic keyboard setup. If we had one small gripe with the G910 it would be the lack of additional USB connector(s), and while it doesn’t detract from the in-it’s-place features, it’s something one would expect to see as standard on a keyboard that would get you a few pennies change from £160. Nonetheless, the G910 knows it’s target audience and markets itself well within that particular field of consumer type. For those who live, breathe, sleep and eat gaming, this is going to be one accessory you’ll wonder how you ever lived without, for the rest, the Logitech is a fancy keyboard with a fancy price tag to go with it, so if you wanna show off some pretty impressive light shows to your mates, the G910 is worth a look (if you’ve got the money of course)!!!
